The disease affects the nonfeathered parts resulting in scaly, crusty or scabby appearance around the beak, cere (nasal area), eye lids, and legs. This condition causes extreme stress on the bird and can affect the birds ability to eat. In some cases there may be abnormal growth resulting in severe beak abnormalities.
